Respite Workers & Group Facilitators
We’re building a team of thoughtful, child-centered professionals who can offer care and connection in nature-based environments, home, school and out in the community for the children we care for. As independent contractors, you’ll bring your unique background to either 1:1 respite care, group facilitation — or both.
We support children ages 4–12, with a focus on emotional wellness, anxiety support, type 1 diabetes care, unique needs, and the joy of child-led play outdoors.
💼 Roles Available
1. Respite Workers (1:1 Support)
Offer flexible, in-home, community or outdoor support for families needing short-term care or regular breaks. You’ll provide compassionate care and grounded presence — often supporting children who experience anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or sensory sensitivities.
Schedule: Flexible, part-time; days, afternoons, weekends, or school breaks
Locations: We are looking for workers who can serve the Hamilton, Burlington, Ancaster, Stoney Creek areas, our network expands to cover Binbrook, Dundas and Oakville as well.
2. Group Program Facilitators
Lead small group sessions in nature for children ages 4–12 using a play-based, child led curriculum. You’ll support social-emotional development, autonomy, and group connection through seasonal, child-led experiences.
Schedule: Set weekly sessions (1–2x per week for 12-week programs), plus occasional PA Day full-day programs
Location: Outdoor sites (TBD by season or region) Program is offered in Hamilton and Burlington
🌱 We're Looking For:
Experience working with or caring for children in any capacity (formal or informal)
A calm, supportive, and emotionally attuned presence
Comfort working outdoors year-round or
Experience and knowledge of type 1 diabetes
Alignment with nature based programs and trauma-informed approaches
Excellent communication and self-direction as an independent contractor
Background education in Child and Youth Work, ECE, Developmental Service Worker, Psychotherapy, or other similar backgrounds are an asset
Requirements:
Vulnerable Sector Check (required before beginning work)
CPR/First Aid
Non violent crisis intervention training or similar
Access to reliable transportation
